Private Lorimer Lee Johnson was born on 12 February 1917 in Hazel Hill, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia, Canada. His parents were James and Laura Johnson. He had 11 siblings.
On August 15, 1938, Lorrimer married Hattie Allieta Bennett in Canso, NS.
Lorimer enlisted on July 23, 1940 at Mulgrave, NS and was with the Pictou Highlanders. He was 24 years old at the time and had 3 young boys Howard, Ralph and Russ, He trained in Canada and headed overseas in July 1944 and disembarked in the UK. In August 1944 he departed England and landed in France where he joined the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada.
On October 20, 1944 Lorimer was wounded and hospitalized. He returned to his unit on February 15, 1945 and served with them until his death on April 21, 1945. He died a mere 2 weeks before the end of the war. He was 28 years old.
Lorimer was initially buried two hundred feet south of the bridge on the main road in Oldenburg, Friesoythe, Germany and in 1946, was reburied in the Holten Canadian War Cemetery, Netherlands in 1946.

Le 15 août 1938, Lorrimer a épousé Hattie Allieta Bennett à Canso, en Nouvelle-Écosse.
Lorimer s'est enrôlé le 23 juillet 1940 à Mulgrave, en Nouvelle-Écosse, dans le bataillon d’infanterie Pictou Highlanders. Il avait 24 ans à l'époque et était père de trois jeunes garçons, Howard, Ralph et Russ.
Il s'entraîne au Canada et part outre-mer en juillet 1944 pour débarquer au Royaume-Uni. En août 1944, il quitte l'Angleterre et débarque en France où il rejoint le régiment Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada.
Le 20 octobre 1944, Lorimer est blessé et hospitalisé. Il retourne dans son unité le 15 février 1945 et y sert jusqu'à sa mort, le 21 avril 1945. Il meurt à peine deux semaines avant la fin de la guerre, à l’âge de 28 ans.
Lorimer a d'abord été enterré à 200 mètres au sud du pont sur la route principale à Oldenburg, Friesoythe, en Allemagne, et a été réinhumé au cimetière de guerre canadien de Holten, aux Pays-Bas, en 1946.
